The Select Internet Server Centre

Server Centre GraphicBased in a secure facility the data centre is built so that should any particular service such as electricity or air conditioning fail a backup automatically takes over.

Dual power feeds enter the building at different points and Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS) ensure that all power to the server area is clean and spike free. In the event of a power outage the UPS and backup generators can take the entire data centre load.

The data centre is manned 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so that if something does go wrong engineers can respond quickly and effectively to the problem.

The platform is designed in such a way that if any server fails another server automatically takes over the workload.

All data are stored in two large network disk arrays. Data is automatically synchronised between the arrays so that in the event of an array failing there is no loss of data and no interruption in service.

Multiple connections to the Internet are in place with different providers. Should any connection fail the other connections will automatically take all the traffic. Not only does this mean that there is very unlikely to be a loss of connection to the Internet, but also that traffic moving to and from the network can take a range of paths to ensure best performance.
